John Galliano for Dior,
The Eccentric

When the British John Galliano (*1960) was appointed creative director of the house of Dior in 1997, he already had an eventful time behind him with his own label "John Galliano". Between 1987 and 1997, he was regularly voted "British Designer of the Year". With him, the label's designs became more eccentric. During this time, it became mass-compatible and commercially extremely successful, above all through the sale of bags. Galliano's success story ended abruptly in 2011 with a scandal.

Besides the mundane denim material of the trouser suit, the lapel solution is particularly interesting. A fitted waistcoat emerges from the lapel - a technical cut detail that Galliano had already developed in the 1990s.
