In the context of the course Orientation Project both German and English Macromedia Media and Communication Design students had the chance to take part in supporting the Dior exhibition together with the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin. Under the mentorship of Professor Thomas Stegmann, we split into four groups and started our research. Our task consisted of designing both the visual and graphic elements of the exhibition, but also the interior design, marketing plan and the general exhibition concept. The task was especially challenging, because at the start some details about the general planning were still unclear, such as in which area of the Kunstgewerbemuseum the exhibition will take place.

The main idea of my teams´ project, which we gave the title ReDior, was to create a highly interactive exhibition that would be especially interesting for a younger audience. Our first steps included researching both the history and the present of Dior as well as the target audience. We deeply wanted to understand the context of the brand Dior and the audience, who will be the visitors of the exhibition. Once we immersed ourselves in the wonderful world of couture fashion, our creativity blossomed. We designed our concept, and everything else followed.

It is always a great privilege when we as students can work with a real-life client, and especially one of such a high cultural status as the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin. Personally, I feel thankful that I could be a part of this project. I have learned a lot, I have developed as a designer, and my love of art and design has grown even stronger.
